How can I exclude certain classes from Bitlancer?

The class session filter (note: different from class filters) allows you to exclude certain classes from Bitlancer altogether. Most accounts can access their class session filter by navigating to Payroll -> Settings -> Class Session Filter. The class session filter is a global account setting.

The class session filter is customizable, and our support team can work with you to adjust it for your needs. Generally speaking, you’ll want to modify your account’s class session filter to only include the classes you’d like to use with Bitlancer. For example, if you manage personal training payroll separately, you’ll likely want to exclude personal training from our software altogether — as if it doesn’t exist on your schedule!

Customers of ours generally modify the class session filter to:

  • Exclude classes with 0 checked in reservations.

  • Exclude classes by name, such as any containing “Workshop” or “Personal Training”.

Studios that pay incentives should take note that your classes pass through your account’s class session filter before payroll calculations even begin. Therefore, a class session filter configured to ignore empty classes (0 checked in reservations) may underpay instructors who are compensated for late cancels and/or no shows. For example, suppose the following:

  • 5 people are signed up for Mike’s 5:00 PM bootcamp class.

  • Mike receives a $30 base rate + $2 per head, including late cancels & no shows. In theory, his compensation should be $40 total.

  • 4 customers late cancel, but 1 customer shows up. The class isn’t empty. Mike is paid $40: $30 base + $8 for late cancelled reservations + $2 for the checked-in reservation.

  • 5 customers late cancel. No customers show up. The class is empty. If the studio’s class session filter is configured to ignore empty classes, Mike will receive no payment for this class — not even his base rate — as the class is ignored at the global account level.

When you first setup your Bitlancer account, we create a default class session filter for you, which includes all classes that are not cancelled — even those with 0 people in them. If you’d like to make adjustments to your class filter, or add additional exclusions, such as ignoring workshops or personal training, please contact Bitlancer Support.
